Morning all and Happy St George's Day!
Julian Worricker is sitting in this week and topics up for discussion will be:-

St George's Day - Should it should be commemorated and is he an appropriate symbol of multicultural Britain?
Health and Wellbeing Hour - Dr Sara Jarvis will talk about hayfever. If you are a sufferer have you any tips to pass on?
French Presidential Elections - The 2 remaining contenders.
Over to you all now!
H
PS happy birthday to our own St George's Day babe - Philip Phlopp!

Hi Aitch
Best tip I ever had for hayfever was to eat a spoonful of locally (as locally as possible) produced honey a day. It worked for me.
Of course we should celebrate St George's day, we seem to celebrate St Patrick's day more than St George here in England, which puzzles me.
Much love hope things are well with you

Hi Mike,
I've no idea why we don't make more of it either.

Best tip for hayfever.
Get some Vick and put it in both nostrils.
That stops the pollen going up your nose.
worked for me years ago.
Used to get it really bad but the last 10 years nothing.
Vaseline Jelly will do the same aswell.

Of course we should celebrate St George's Day. It is crazy that we should be made to feel guilty because of the country of our birth.
Yesterday our family spent a lovely afternoon at a St Georges's party with the local Cub and Scout group. It was in no way jingoistic or racist or any of that nonsense. Just people having a good time and being proud of their heritage.

1. Who the hell is Julian Worricker?
2. You have to be pretty thick if you never realised that the sole reason, for getting viewers to phone with quiz answers or votes for some wannabe celeb, is to make money.
3. Make St. George's Day a bank holiday, so we have time to celebrate it.
4. Hayfever - Close your eyes and stop breathing.
5. Whoever is the French president will still hate the British

As far as I'm aware no-one has said 'don't celebrate St George's day'. If people don't it's because they don't want to.

As BG&G says it's "Just people having a good time and being proud of their heritage."
I think that is what is wrong, we seem to have lost our reason to be proud any more.

I don't think it's in the nature of English people generally to get all jingoistic and wave flags about, I think this is a nice thing. We're more reserved.
Every year this debate happens, people complaining about the lack of celebrations.Yet we've not been told not to celebrate. Why don't the complainers organise some event? Because they prefer to complain, this is very English I suppose.

Agreed but when we do we go overboard! We need a happy medium.

Julian is very professional although not as hyper as JV gets at times.
Very good stand in and no problems with listening to him during the rest of the week.
He is normally found on Radio 5 i believe

I recognise him from News 24.
I missed large chunks of the show due to phone calls but he seems fine, although I'm missing my daily dose of JV! ;)

He wasn't bad. But Clive Anderson has been the best stand in, have a feeling that we won't be hearing from him again between 12 - 2.
