Morning all

Topics for the Jeremy Vine show today are as follows:-

Suicide Pact - After the deaths of three 15 year old boys in N Ireland a psychologist says it was a 'sizeable suicide pact'.

Bernard Manning - What are your memories of him?

The Coastal Path - The public is being consulted about plans to open up the whole of the English coastline to walkers. Should we have the right to walk anywhere we want?

Religion - After the Salman Rushdie honour Jeremy asks Peter and Christopher Hitchins whether religion is a force for good or evil?

Over to you now.

Not liking to speak ill of the dead, but Bernard Manning was sexist, racist and not in the least bit funny, to my mind.

1) Bernard Manning was a comic genius...there should be no dumming down of humour, in the interests of the delicate and timid.

2) Of course we should not be allowed to roam where we want. People have rights, nuclear power station owners, farmers, quarrymen, cesspit emptyers, landfill sites, They all have a right to some privacy.

About 30 years ago Bernard Manning was booked as the cabaret in a Stockport hotel for the head office Christmas dinner and dance of the company I worked for at time. I'd not really heard of him then (being very young at the time) but he was on his usual form and a lot of people went to the bar or the ladies loo!

I've no idea who booked him but as there were several RT hons among the guests up from London it was a huge embarrassment and is still talked about today whenever there is a get together!

I didn't like him but remember the occasion.

Bernard Manning was a comic genius, yes, and the Wombles were musical geniuses, I guess? He was a fat, bigoted loudmouth who was about as funny as Salmonella poisoning.

Those two brothers on today's show were great! I really liked when Jeremy asked if they were close and received a deadpan "no".

Yeah I enjoyed that moment as well!

My husband and his brother are not exactly close either.

They didn't spend much time talking about Salman Rushdie though did they? Think one of them was only there to plug his book

Nigel Lawson called his daughter Nigella.

So if Salman had been blessed with a daughter would she have been Salmanella?

He was determined to keep trying to plug it. Jeremy spoke more about Salman Rushdie in his link with Ken I thought.
