First of all, when you write a press release you try to hit two major targets: promote your business on a market and bring useful information about what you offer. Keeping that in mind, you should consider creating your press releases like news, not like sales ads. Don’t let readers ask questions about you and your product/service, answer all their questions by preparing a well documented article.

Second, like in the newspapers, what attracts you most in reading an article? Isn’t that the headline? Create an attractive title, something that will worth the public’s attention. In the end, you want that your press release to be read. So, go with a strong headline, without being vague, and in the rest you can present the rest of details. People will read the rest of the press release only if the headline is catchy.

Don’t put your trust in media to check for spelling, grammar or typos. Always choose your words carefully, analyze what you wrote and check for mistakes. You should expose to people as an expert in your market, that’s true, but a full of mistakes article will not be a good asset in your business advertising campaign. Remember, journalist could publish your press release if it worths, so make it worthy.

Do not ever lie or exaggerate about your product. Gain your market target trust and media too. Skepticism is in every people that will try a product. To show the market that what you offer satisfies the customers’ needs, you shouldn’t skip this step: use examples about how your product or the company that you promote solved people’s problem/s. Show them what are the benefits of what you offer, make them say : “yes, I need this, sounds very interesting and useful! “

Write it using strong words and active verbs, stick to what you want present in a professional manner, do not use unnecessary adjectives or words that have to purpose to flower a statement. Do not abuse hypes and jargon. Use it rarely, only when you can’t finish a sentence without it.

A press release is a document issued to the media and consumers to announce a business and/or a product.

Before issuing a press release SMEs should keep in mind that their newsletter contains all the information that the reader requires. Don’t repeat the information otherwise you’ll lose the attention of your customers. Keep important information in the beginning but be concise and relate to your customer’s interest. Don’t use a press release for direct selling; give solutions or answers to pressing questions your customers might have.
