I saw the recent documentary on the gerontologist Aubrey Dubray, and it turned out that he was a bit dodgy. Oxford university say he was never a scientist there but just worked in the computer department

Also, I question the logic of a man who thinks he can have his head preserved in liquid nitrogen for later resuscitation when this is currently scientifically impossible.

Where pray will all these 800 year old people live?
Dare i mention 800 years worth of State Pension to be paid for.
Plus NHS costs which are off the scale.
Great idea but that is all it is ,otherwise the worlds population would run riot

This won't happen. With the damage we have done to this planet through over-population, the human race will not survive beyond the middle of this century.

Delboy...imagine all that extra pension you could get if you reach at least 800.
Plus 8 telegrams from the monarch of the day.
Just imagine how many cars you would go through aswell :mumum:

Mike, it is the pension that would really worry me. One company pension, that I poured a fortune into for eleven years, shows an ever decreasing estimated pension on each annual statement. I calculated, that if I lived for 1000 years, I would be paying THEM several million quid a year.

Del..i have 2-3 deferred pensions but will not be paying anymore in.

Don't forget if you don't have enough pension there will always be the state to bail you out.
Spend everything before you hit 65 and there will be benefits you never dreamed of coming your way for FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

UK failing children - UK comes last out of 21 countries

My first instinct is to say I'd rather grow up in the 21st worst Western country for child rearing than the best third world one.

Secondly, did you hear that bloke on the radio claiming it was 'society's fault'? It's always society's fault isn't it? Well, actually no. My parents raised kids that turned out to be productive members of society as did their parents, and as will I do (hopefully). If it was society's fault we'd all be turning out like this.

It's among other things, because parents don't have enough time for their kids and/or don't show enough love. Probably because they're chasing the pounds all day, or they think society should be doing it for them.

It gets my goat when apologists whine 'kids don't have anything to do!'
I had things to do as a kid and most of them were indoors: homework, telly, reading, art projects, cooking......
It's not that bloody difficult

Rant over ;)

These are probably the same people who want the Parents of kids playing truant to attend Parenting Classes in the Evening.
Will this be before the pub or after?
Let's blame everyone apart from ourselves is a claim that is appearing far too often angry9: angry9: :angry1:

Could it have anything to do with the fact that ONE THIRD of homes get more than half of their income from government handouts? If the parents have no pride, why should the kids?
